Speaking in a Roar or a Whisper

“The blood of Jesus has a mighty tongue, and the import of its prevailing cry is not vengeance but mercy.” – C.H. Spurgeon

The Bible describes God’s voice in many different ways. Here are just a few…

“Suddenly, the glory of the God of Israel appeared from the east. The sound of His coming was like the roar of rushing waters, and the whole landscape shone with His glory.” Ezekiel 43:2 (NLT)

“His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters.” Revelation 1:15 (BSB)

“After the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a still, small voice. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him and said, ‘What are you doing here, Elijah?’” I Kings 19:12-13 (BSB)

Whether God speaks with a roar or a whisper, His message is always the same… and I will try my best to paraphrase it below.

“I am holy – and you are not – and so, whereas My holiness demands justice, My love provided a sacrifice. Believe in Him and you will be saved from My wrath and judgment. Not only that, but you will get to enjoy eternity with Me in heaven.”

Let that message seep deep into your spirit – carried there by His Spirit – and be sure to share it with everyone you meet who needs to hear it.

“And when He brings out His own sheep, He goes before them; and the sheep follow Him, for they know His voice.” John 10:4 (NKJV)
