Peeking Down Magnolia Lane

A few years ago, I convinced our church to purchase some rulers to give out at a local 4th of July celebration. And so, every person who stopped by our booth at Riverview Park in Sebastian received a blue ruler with our church’s contact information it. We also handed them a gospel tract that explained the strange gift.

The tract was titled, “Missing Heaven By 18 Inches,” which is the average distance between a person’s head and their heart. Inside the tract was a description of how many people miss out on going to heaven because they have a “head” knowledge of Jesus, but not a “heart” knowledge of Him.

My friend, hell is full of people who knew about Jesus intellectually. Unfortunately, they never internalized that knowledge by repenting of their sins and trusting Him as their Savior. As the Bible says in James 2:19, “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.”

As an avid golfer, I have always wanted to visit Augusta National Golf Club, the home of the Masters tournament. However, I am not a pro golfer or a corporate bigwig… and so far, I have failed to win the lottery system that Augusta National uses to distribute admission tickets. And so, I had to be content to park near the front gate and peek through the fence instead of driving down Magnolia Lane and walking those hallowed grounds.

PLEASE don’t spend your life – let alone eternity – on the outside looking in. Trust Jesus TODAY!
