It's Not a Question of "If", but "When"?

“Your eternal destiny rests with God. If you will not deal with Him now, you must answer His charges later. Know this: ‘It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.’” – William Gurnall

When Jonathan Edwards delivered his famous sermon, “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God”, to his parishioners in Northampton, Massachusetts and again in Enfield, Connecticut, mass revivals swept across New England and throughout the rest of the 13 colonies. Coming face to face with their own sinfulness, untold thousands of people threw themselves (sometimes literally) onto the altar of God’s mercy, forgiveness, and grace.

Those who did not do so then, will eventually do so in eternity. In Philippians 2:9-11, Paul makes it abundantly clear that every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

And so, the question we must all ask and answer for ourselves is this: do you want to kneel before Christ as your Savior in this life or kneel before Him as your Judge in the next? I made that decision for myself as a 16-year-old almost 50 years ago… and haven’t regretted it for a moment. In fact, it was the best decision I ever made – or will ever make – in my entire life.

“For we know Him who said, ‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord. And again, ‘The LORD will judge His people.’ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:30-31 (NKJV)
