I Want JUSTICE!!!

“Don’t allow the sad sight of human injustice to sadden your soul; someday you will see the unfailing justice of God triumph over it.” – St. Padre Pio

Recently, I have allowed the bad news that seems to dominate the headlines these days to get under my skin a little bit. I realize full well that God is sovereign and that He has everything totally under control. But being human, it troubles me when I read about the 12-year-old girl who was tortured and then strangled to death in Texas, the 13-year-old girl who was raped in broad daylight in New York City, and the mother of five who was raped and murdered in Maryland. All three heinous crimes were committed by illegal immigrants who had no business being in our country to begin with and that – along with President Biden’s open border – angers me even more.

My friend, there is no denying the fact that the world in which we live is full of injustice. Seemingly innocent people are prosecuted and go to jail while others who are plainly guilty get off Scot-free, especially if they are rich, powerful, or politically well-connected. It just doesn’t seem right.

Well, guess what? It ISN’T right… and we should fight for truth and justice every day of our lives while voting for political candidates who uphold the rule of law. However, at the end of the day, there will not be true justice until Jesus returns to reign and rule in Jerusalem for 1,000 years (see Revelation 20:1-6).

After that millennial kingdom is over, all evildoers will be judged at the Great White Throne Judgment (see Revelation 20:11-15) and thrown into the Lake of Fire already occupied by the devil, the beast, and the false prophet. Finally, with the establishment of the new heaven, the new earth, and the New Jerusalem (see Revelation 21:1-4), everything will be made new, clean, fresh, and holy. Injustice will be a thing of the past because “God Himself will be with them and be their God.” Not only that, but every sorrow will disappear, and every tear will be wiped away. Perhaps best of all, sin and death will be no more.

Focusing on that certainty allows me to get through today, tomorrow, and the next day. Hopefully, it will do the same for you.

“Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore He rises to show you compassion, for the LORD is a just God. Blessed are all who wait for Him.” Isaiah 30:18 (BSB)
