I Am an Addict

“Absence from Christ is hell; but the presence of Jesus is heaven.” – C.H. Spurgeon
I have a confession to make. I am an addict, and I have been for the past eight and a half years.
Not just any kind of addict, mind you, but one that is hopelessly addicted to my six grandchildren. In fact, if I don’t see… hear from… or hug each one of them on at least a weekly basis, I start to suffer withdrawal symptoms.
Deanna shares my grandchild addiction, which is one of the reasons why we sold our house in Sebastian in November 2021 and moved 20 miles south to be closer to Brady, Sadie, Levi, Dylan, Bella, and Charlotte. Now, it’s just a 10-minute drive to spend time with any of them.
Heaven on earth… and a blessing we certainly don’t take for granted.
Speaking of heaven, I can’t imagine spending eternity anywhere else. Sure, my mansion will be nicer than any house I’ve owned on earth and yes, it will be fun to walk on streets paved with gold. But the Main Attraction – and the Only One that really matters – is Jesus.
From the moment I pass through the pearly gates, I will be in the presence of my Savior, who is also my Best Friend. From that day on, I will enjoy continuous and intimate fellowship with the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS (see Revelation 19:16).
Tragically, not everyone will enjoy such eternal bliss, because those who reject Jesus in this life will be rejected by Him in the next. There are no sadder words in Scripture than the ones spoken in Matthew 25:41… “Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.”
My friend, please don’t miss the heavenly roll call. Trust Christ as your Savior today… and encourage everyone you know to do likewise.
“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’” Matthew 7:23 (NKJV)
