Happy New Year from Teddy Roosevelt

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” – Theodore Roosevelt

Today is the first day of 2025. It is also the first day of the rest of your life.

There is absolutely nothing you can do to change what happened in 2024, 2023, or any other time in your life. What is done is done and there is no going back except to apologize to anyone you may have hurt and to learn from your mistakes. Other than that, let the past go and stop looking in the rearview mirror.

Ahead of you lies a year of virtually unlimited and untapped possibilities. The sky is the limit for you – yes, YOU! – so my advice is to set some goals and aim high. Then break those lofty goals down into incremental pieces and check them off one by one as you accomplish them. Don’t be discouraged if the process goes slowly or if you don’t reach all your goals. The key is being able to look back at the end of 2025 and see some progress.

As Teddy Roosevelt said, “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”

“Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize of God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 (BSB)
